An update on our Freelance Assistant Producer callout.

Tuesday 9 June 2026

We've made the difficult decision to withdraw this opportunity. A change in the personal circumstances of one our staff team in the last week has meant that we have had to place our limited resources in another place to best support our programme over the next six months. With this change in circumstances, we have also identified a risk we would not be able to support the appointed person in the best way and to the standards we hold ourselves to.

We know how much freelance opportunities matter right now, and we're truly sorry to anyone who had already started working on an application. This wasn't a decision we took lightly. We remain fully committed to Novo Talent and to creating meaningful opportunities for freelancers across the North East.

We will continue to share opportunities via our mailing list, website, and social media as they arise. When appropriate, this will include other producing opportunities.

Thank you for your understanding.

I have become much more confident in my abilities and in my connections/network to enable me to produce my own work and pursue other projects in the future. Having started in the role straight after going freelance, it’s also nice to be able to look back on how far I’ve come since then. I’ve been able to take on various other projects as a producer since finishing the role and it has definitely given me a leg up to getting these roles.
