Volunteer

Thank you to all our volunteers

38 volunteers supported our work during 2024/25, in a variety of roles including event support, leaflet distribution, walk leading and performing. Collectively they contributed 250 hours of their time!

Our volunteering opportunities are open to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Volunteering with Novo Theatre can improve your confidence or simply provide a fun and new experience.

Current volunteering opportunities are outlined below.

Volunteer Stewards: Salt & Smoke; Stories of Blyth

Over the weekend of 26 – 28 September 2025 we will be bringing a theatrical adventure to the streets of Blyth.

During an hour-long experience, audience members will follow a map which will lead them to moments of theatre inspired by 500 years of Blyth’s history, at locations around the town centre. We are looking for volunteer stewards to join the Novo Theatre team and help us run the event.

This will involve:

  • Greeting audience members when they arrive and checking tickets

  • Handing out leaflets and answering questions from members of the public

  • Signposting audience members to the next location, if they should need help

  • Encouraging audience members to complete our audience feedback form

  • Helping to keep the performance areas free of litter

In addition to seeing some great theatre, you'll get some insight into how we plan and manage our outdoor events, and customer service experience when communicating with audience members.

Dates & Times

There are five timeslots we will need volunteer stewards for:
