The Last Stop Before Kirkgate
Due to popular demand, The Last Stop Before Kirkgate at York Castle Museum has been extended!
Designed to recreate a Victorian coaching inn, the immersive installation follows the stories of several Victorian folk travelling to York through cleverly crafted objects and bespoke sound displays.
Originally unveiled for a limited run in February, we are delighted that the coaching inn will remain for a further 18 months to allow more visitors to experience this incredible installation.
Experience the sights, smells and sounds of Victorian York like never before in this brand-new immersive installation. This experience was commissioned by York Castle Museum and developed in collaboration with the team at York Museums Trust.
As you arrive at the coaching inn, The Last Stop, you’ll hear from some lively characters also on their way to visit our famous street, Kirkgate. This new experience will guide you to travel back in time to the 1870s allowing you to delve deeper into the real stories behind the collection. Linger, listen and travel with us!
